Quran and the Signs Of My Lord

Assalamu alaikum wa rehmatullahi wa barakatuh

East and the Sun rise

What is actually the tulu ish shams is Quran? Is it all about the rising of the sun or something else?

What is East and West?

Does Quran mean those places where the sun rises and it sets or something else?

Actually whatever the Quran has mentioned is 100% correct according to modern scientific discoveries.

See the following verses.

East and West:

From the following 8 verses we can conclude that East and West are just directions to face or to mention the area.

And to Allah belongs the east and the west. So wherever you [might] turn, there is the Face of Allah . Indeed, Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing.(2:115)

The foolish among the people will say, “What has turned them away from their qiblah, which they used to face?” Say, “To Allah belongs the east and the west. He guides whom He wills to a straight path.”(2:142)

Righteousness is not that you turn your faces toward the east or the west, but [true] righteousness is [in] one who believes in Allah , the Last Day, the angels, the Book, and the prophets and gives wealth, in spite of love for it, to relatives, orphans, the needy, the traveler, those who ask [for help], and for freeing slaves; [and who] establishes prayer and gives zakah; [those who] fulfill their promise when they promise; and [those who] are patient in poverty and hardship and during battle. Those are the ones who have been true, and it is those who are the righteous.(2:177)

[He is] the Lord of the East and the West; there is no deity except Him, so take Him as Disposer of [your] affairs.(73:9)

And We caused the people who had been oppressed to inherit the eastern regions of the land and the western ones, which We had blessed. And the good word of your Lord was fulfilled for the Children of Israel because of what they had patiently endured. And We destroyed [all] that Pharaoh and his people were producing and what they had been building.(7:137)

Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth. The example of His light is like a niche within which is a lamp, the lamp is within glass, the glass as if it were a pearly [white] star lit from [the oil of] a blessed olive tree, neither of the east nor of the west, whose oil would almost glow even if untouched by fire. Light upon light. Allah guides to His light whom He wills. And Allah presents examples for the people, and Allah is Knowing of all things.(24:35)

And mention, [O Muhammad], in the Book [the story of] Mary, when she withdrew from her family to a place toward the east.(19:16)

He said: The Lord of the east and the west and what is between them, if you understand.(26:28)

The following 4 verses give us a clue that there could be other suns and other planets too.

The Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, and Lord of the easts.(37:5)

Till, when (such a one) comes to Us, he says [to his Qarin (Satan / devil companion)] “Would that between me and you were the distance of the two easts” a worst (type of) companion (indeed)!(43:8)

Lord of the two Easts, and Lord of the two Wests!(55:17)

Yet no, I swear by The Lord of the easts and the wests; surely We are indeed (the) Determiners.(70:40)

Now the tulu is shams.

And [had you been present], you would see the sun when it rose (tala’at), inclining away from their cave on the right, and when it set, passing away from them on the left, while they were [laying] within an open space thereof. That was from the signs of Allah . He whom Allah guides is the [rightly] guided, but he whom He leaves astray – never will you find for him a protecting guide.(18:17)

So be patient over what they say and exalt [ Allah ] with praise of your Lord before the rising of the sun (tulu ish shams) and before its setting; and during periods of the night [exalt Him] and at the ends of the day, that you may be satisfied.(20:130)

So be patient, [O Muhammad], over what they say and exalt [ Allah ] with praise of your Lord before the rising of the sun (tulu ish shams) and before its setting(50:39)

The root word tala’ is used here which means to be discovered or to be looked or to become informed.

So tulu ish shams does not mean that the sun comes from the underground to the sky and even it does not mean the rising of the sun.

Tulu ish shams means when the sun becomes discovered or informed,or when it can be looked.

See the following verses. All of themn contain the derivatives of this word tala’ and the only translation which fits is not the rising or ascending,it is simply about being looked or discovered.

Now the following verse:

Have you not regarded him who argued with Ibrahim (Abraham) about his Lord, that Allah had brought him the kingship? As’ Ibrahim said, “My Lord is He Who gives life and makes to die, ” he said, “I give life and make to die.” Ibrahim said, “Yet surely Allah comes up with (i.e., brings) the sun from the East, so come up with (i.e., bring) it from the West.” Then the one who disbelieved was confounded; and Allah does not guide the unjust people..(2:258)

Yes,We all have a specified direction from where we routinely find the sun to become apparent .

Does anyone disagree?

No.Because He a.s. was totally right.

Ghroobish shams:

It is not the going down of Sun,it is just the intense blackening more accurately.

See 35:27.

The crow is also named as ghurab, and it is dark.

To elaborate it more,it is the opposite of tulu ish shams,so it would mean the time when sun is no more evident.

Two Easts and Easts:

Lord of the two Easts, and Lord of the two Wests!(55:17)

Yet no, I swear by The Lord of the easts and the wests; surely We are indeed (the) Determiners.(70:40)

East is the direction where the Sun becomes evident in the morning.

In other words East is the side of a rotating planet which faces the Sun.

Two Easts and even Easts (more than 2 Easts) mean:

– Other planets beyond the Earth having East.

– Other Suns giving rise to Easts.

– Other solar systems.

All the three expected possibilities are correct.

There are many planets:

There are many suns:

There are many Solar Systems:

According to NASA,

So far, astronomers have found more than 500 solar systems and are discovering new ones every year.

1.Tulu ish shams ,the most appropriate translation would be the sun becoming apparent or obvious or discovered well.

2.There are many translations for the word rising but no one is used for sun.See.

3.East and West are the directions.

4.Tulu ish shams and East are not about the moving Sun.

5.East is the direction where the Sun becomes apparent in the morning.

6.Two Easts could mean the Easts related to 2 suns or some other places like Earth to be having East i.e. other planets. Both are correct.

7.Easts (plural) mean the same. Many suns and/or many other places like Earth i.e. other planets or even other Solar systems.
