Assalamu alaikum wa rehmatullahi wa barakatuh
Or, do you think that the Fellows of the Cave and the Inscription were of Our wonderful signs?
(Remember) when the young men fled for refuge (from their disbelieving folk) to the Cave, they said: “Our Lord! Bestow on us mercy from Yourself, and facilitate for us our affair in the right way!”
Then We struck upon their ears for a (great) number of years in the cave(Surah Kahaf 9-11)
The inner ear consists of :
Striking upon ears, this denotes modification,
and this modification could be related to hearing only,ie the cochlear part of the ear,
as well as with the modification of the vestibular system too.
The vestibular system which is involved in maintaining the balance of the body,is studied a lot for the relationship with sleep.
The stimulation of the vestibular system is now concluded as the part of the treatment of insomnia, where the patient is unable to sleep.
This clearly denotes that the vestibular system was also modified to let them sleep for years.
Then We struck upon their ears for a (great) number of years in the cave.
Just see it again,it is not the hearing which was modified, but their ears,to let them sleep for YEARS…!!!
Allah the all knowing,Our Creator knew that He has created the vestibular system in the ears, which are related with the sleeping patterns, and so He modified it too.
Another wonderful sign of Allah’s mercy upon them.
And you would have thought them awake, while they were asleep. And We turned them on their right and on their left sides, and their dog stretching forth his two forelegs at the entrance [of the Cave or in the space near to the entrance of the Cave (as a guard at the gate)]. Had you looked at them, you would certainly have turned back from them in flight, and would certainly have been filled with awe of them (Surah kahaf 18)
Turning them left and right sides,Allah the all knowing knew that the one who has to sleep for a long period, needs such care.
This prevents from pressure sores!!!
The NPUAP in conjunction with the European Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel (EPUAP) published a comprehensive guideline on the prevention and treatment of pressure ulcers in 2009.Nursing homes and hospitals usually set programs in place to avoid the development of pressure ulcers in bedridden patients, such as using a routine time frame for turning and repositioning to reduce pressure.
